'The spirit and ambition of the Suspended Coffees movement is supported by thousands of cafés around the world, places that are at the hub of local communities, serving suspended coffees (and more) and sharing goodwill and compassion every day.'
Here at St. Stephens community centre, we are pleased to be able to offer a 'Suspended Meals' Service. Inspired by the worldwide 'Suspended Coffee' movement (you can learn more about this movement here).
This is how it works, you can pay for a 'Suspended Meal' anytime you like. Often people will buy a 'Suspended Meal' when they buy a meal for themselves, but you can do it anytime by either popping into the centre or via Paypal by clicking on the donate button (if you donate this way please mark your donation as being for a suspended meal when Paypal asks you for a message to the vendor).
When 'Suspended Meals' are paid for, we will add it to our record so that we know how many 'Suspended Meals' we have available.
Anyone can then come into the centre during the times that we are serving meals (9am till 1pm Weekdays and Sundays – Sorry but we are closed on Saturdays) and ask if any suspended meals are available, we will serve you a suspended meal from the pool of those that have been paid for, no questions will be asked and we will not ask for any proof of income or any intrusive questions. We will simply feed you.
If you would like to donate a suspended meal to the scheme, please either pop into the centre, or use the donate button.
If you are ordering a paid meal for delivery you may also pay for a suspended meal when the driver arrives with your order.
If you would like to have a suspended meal, simply come along to the centre during service times (9am till 1pm weekdays and Sundays) and ask if we have a suspended meal available. Thanks to the generosity of members of the local community we almost always do. You can call ahead to check if you wish and we will hold it for you till you arrive to collect.
